July 6th - July 14th, 2024

Made my way from Hanoi to Ninh bin. I stayed in a private room at a home stay. I did this because I had an interview booked with manpower for an Enbridge job so I needed a quiet place to myself. It was cheap too only 15$ per night. I did the interview but I haven’t heard anything back yet. My hotel didn’t offer any tours so I made my way into town and stopped at a random hostel to book a tour with them. It was quite over priced for what I got. I got a tour of a pagoda, lunch with a local family a two hour boat tour, a hike to a temple (which I didn’t make it to; had to stop because I was slowing the group down) and then we toured a lotus field. The trip took 6 hours. From there I made my way to Phong Nha. Here I did more things. I chilled by the pool in a hammock and went for a swim one day. The following day I went on a tour to the largest cave in Asia. It is 35 kilometres long. I also went to a different cave where we went mud bathing in a dark cave that we explored with head lamps. Then we went kayaking and to a water park. To finish the day off we went to a duck farm and fed some ducks. It was really funny. The next day I caught a bus to Danang. I only stayed in Danang for one night because that’s all they had availability for. So I stayed one night in a double bed and then left the next day for Hoi An. In Hoi An I slept most of the first day. Traveling for 8 hours every 3 days is getting very tiresome. That night me and some people from the hostel went and saw a firework festival. It was china versus Finland and Finland won. The fireworks lasted for 1 hours. The next day I took a cab into town as my hostel in Hoi an is on the beach and me and this other Canadian girl went to a lantern making class. It was fun. Then we came back to the hostel and we had family dinner with most of the hostel. We had Vietnamese pancakes wrapped in rice paper with some veggies and dipped in spicy fish sauce. It was good. Then we played some cards. We played rummy
