This week was my last week of teaching. The previous week I had gone without any clonazepam for 3 out of the 5 days of teaching, but I got some pretty bad anxiety this weekend that just past so I felt less confident. Just to be safe I took a clonazepam each day this week and had no issues. I don't imagine I'll be taking it too much now that I'm done teaching, but I know it's there if I need it. It makes me wonder though that if I pursue teaching as a full time gig what it will be like in Canada? I can't just keep taking clonazepam. I think with the right training I'll be more confident and won't need it.
This week was just preparing the students for their end of summer school ceremony. We put the finishing touches on the story with Daisy, Otis and Rosalie, which is an farmyard skit, and Jack and the beanstalk. I also taught 2 sets of kids for the past 2 weeks where there were 3 boys I was teaching and then in a separate class there were 3 girls. I'm not sure why they were such small classes but it allowed me to give individual direction that i wouldn't be able to do otherwise. It's also possible that their parents paid extra for a small class. On another note I will definitely miss these kids. I hate to admit it but I definitely had my favorites.
There was a new girl named Grace who will be starting as a teacher next week, but she showed up a few days earlier so Harrison and I got to hang out with her. She seemed pretty cool. We went to the arcade and played a few games. I also gave her a bunch of pointers on what to expect.
Next came the reception for the students. They were all dressed up and looked so cute. they performed their skits and then there was some extra material I didn't know they were putting into the performance such as a dance and recordings of the students on some of the things I had taught them. They spoke about their latest vacation and a few other things that I cant remember.
Trang and I were supposed to go to Ha Long yesterday but she had an allergic reaction from the night before so she cancelled out trip. No worries though. I was able to go to Hanoi two days earlier to prepare for my Ha Giang loop trip. I think every day is going to matter if i want to fit everything into this trip.
I haven't really been keeping track of my money that well. Not including flights and pre trip preparation I think I've spent about $1000, which is pretty good for one month of travelling. It's about to ramp up though because now I'm done teaching and I'll be doing excursions and spending more money per day. I think I have about $2000 left to spend. I don't know how long that will last me but I hope another month and a half. I don't come home till August 12th. We will see if I have to come back to Canada sooner because I will have run out of money. I think I can make it work!
